Tokyo Next-Generation Game Show

Went to Makuhari today to see what's coming up in video games this year. While not altogether as impressive as expected (it seemed geared towards elementary school children mostly--Pokemon, etc.), it was still a sight to see, and had I the patience to stand in line for a mere 72 minutes, I too could have tried my hand at cooking, fishing, or off-road racing at the Nintendo Wii booth. Instead, I opted to take pictures and post them online. I took videos too.

Here's one I took while walking around. It had gotten really crowded and I wanted to show how much; ironically, just as I started moving the crowd thinned out, so admittedly the video isn't all that interesting.

This one is of some kids racing their cars. It was cool to see so many hobbyists enjoying their thing. Hot Wheels had a booth too, where kids were encouraged to race their favorite Matchbox cars down a ramp.

This last one is from Hudson-soft's booth. In it, a kid gets pointers on fishing with the Wii controller.

A Post

That’s the dilemma when you don’t have a comfortable office chair from which to post blog entries: either there’s not much going on and therefore little motivation to catch up on posts, or there’s so much going on that there’s no time to sit down and type something up. The last months of 2006 were full of the first problem, and from December until right around now it’s been the second one. But enough is enough. What few readers are left deserve something. So here’s a list of what’s coming down the pike:

        •        Photos from Kerri & Bradford’s Wonderful Winter Wedding, along with captions and miscellaneous info.
        •        A photo tour of American Christmas lights
        •        I’ll be posting photos of Japanese goods. Things I think make decent souvenirs, such as things that have significant cultural, historical, or artistic value, and also some information on where they come from and what they cost.

I think that’s a tall enough order to start with.
